Youth Active Code of Conduct

Youth Active is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

This document outlines our Code of Conduct, ethical expectations, and core principles that guide the behaviour of all our members. This includes nominated members of our Board of Directors (including those under 25 years old), youth volunteers, senior staff, and young workers employed by Youth Active.

Our Behavioural Guidance

1. Respect and Inclusivity

  • Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and dignity—regardless of background, beliefs, abilities, or opinions.
  • Promote diversity and create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all.

2. Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Communicate openly and support one another.
  • Value everyone’s contribution and work together toward our shared goals.

3. Integrity and Honesty

  • Act honestly and transparently in all interactions.
  • Report concerns or conflicts of interest appropriately and promptly.

4. Confidentiality and Trust

  • Respect the privacy of personal and sensitive information.
  • Only share information when authorised or necessary to protect wellbeing.

5. Professionalism with Compassion

  • Represent Youth Active positively with kindness and respect.
  • Maintain professional conduct while showing empathy and understanding.

6. Safety and Well-being First

  • Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others at all times.
  • Immediately report any safety or wellbeing concerns.

7. Compliance with Rules and Policies

  • Follow all applicable laws, organisational policies, and guidelines.
  • Seek clarification if unsure about expectations or responsibilities.

8. Commitment and Reliability

  • Fulfil your roles and responsibilities with dependability.
  • Communicate promptly if your availability changes or challenges arise.

9. Continuous Growth and Learning

  • Be open to feedback and new learning opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas to help improve our organisation and support young people.

10. Positive Community Impact

  • Recognise our role in the community and strive to make a positive difference.
  • Consider the social and environmental impact of your actions.

Enforcement

Any breach of this Code of Conduct or Ethics may lead to disciplinary measures, which could include counselling, suspension, or removal from the position of Director, staff member, or volunteer.
